Asinara

The name of the island means “sinuous” and comes from its long shape. There was once a lazarat and a high security prison on the island, but today it is uninhabited and was declared a national park in 1996. Access to the island is strictly limited to group excursions, organised by the Park Authority, and overnight stays are not allowed. However, visitors can enjoy fascinating excursions to the old coastal village of Cala d’Oliva, the ancient lazaret at Cala Reale and the former prison at Fornielli, as well as the splendid white sandy beach of Cala Sabina.spiaggia bianca di Cala Sabina
