Porto Flavia
This is not a real mine. It is, in fact, a tunnel, which was dug in 1924 and stretches for 600metres in the sheer dolomite cliffs overhanging the sea below. Equipped with a system of silos and a conveyor belt, it allowed the extracted minerals to be transported from the mining area and loaded directly onto the waiting ships bound for Carloforte. The tunnel entrance, only visible from the sea, opens out onto the striking rock known as Pan di Zucchero
