Montevecchio
This mining company started extraction in the mid 1800s and productivity grew over the years until thousands of workers were employed by the company and a genuine village had developed around the mine, complete with roads, houses, churches and various other buildings. Between 1950 and 1960 Montevecchio became the most important zinc and lead mine in Europe. The mine was closed in 1991, but today people can visit all the structures which made up the mining complex, in particular the Anglo-Sardinian tunnel, the Sant’Antonio Pit and the Main Washery
