Isola di Tavolara
This island is part of the Marine Park of Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo. It is an impressive limestone rock mass which rises out of the sea to a height of 568 metres at Punta Cannone. The east part is a secure military zone and mooring is limited to the opposite side os the island in the area around Spalmatore di Terra. The island is a natural barometer for sailors because depending on the direction of the wind it is either entirely or partially covered by clouds. The history of the island also boasts a royal dynasty, which started with the farmer-King Giuseppe Bertoleoni
