Isola Mal di Ventre
The island, whose name comes from “malu bentu”, or “bad wind” in local dialect, is an expanse of rock of about two sq. km and forms part of the Sinis marine park. It is dominated by the Monte Catalano lighthouse and surrounded by rocks. The island offers fascinating archaeological remains, among which two Nuraghi, whilst the wreck of a Roman ship just over 36 metres long lies on the seabed. The ship sank around 50 – 60 BC and was carrying a cargo of lead bars. The sea around the island is full of fish, but is often quite rough as a result of the Libeccio and Mistral winds
